A Letter from Coach Wallerich:
After our first two years in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC), we are looking to make another strong run at a conference title. Our first year (2022) we were picked to finish 9th in the preseason polls; we finished fourth with a few wins over ranked teams. In our first game of the conference season, we battled #17 Aurora University to a walk-off win in the ninth inning with a three-run home run by then junior first baseman Sebastien Dubois. We finished the season 19-19 after a 0-6 start, and the resiliency of our group showed. We finished a game short of the conference title game in the NACC tournament.
Last year, we were dealing with injuries most of the year and did not perform the way we had hoped, losing a lot of close games. We look to rebound this year to again try and compete for a conference title. Throughout the fall, our players have shown to be a strong, resilient team that has relied on their teammates for support. This season, we expect to play a full-capacity 40 games. Check out our schedule at athletics.snc.edu/sports/baseball/schedule. Our roster will be available on the website.
During this year, we are looking to upgrade our player development by adding a few machines and to bolster our endowment to help ensure a high return for year-to-year spending. It is our goal to be able to keep injuries to a minimum, keep our players healthy and give them every opportunity to enhance their skillset. Now through the end of the campaign, Brian Baker, '94 has generously offered a dollar-for-dollar match for all gifts made to the Baseball Campaign, up to $5,000! Support the team before February 26 to make your gift go twice as far.
If you have any questions or would like to talk about how you could help our program meet the above-mentioned or other needs we may have, I would love the opportunity to speak to you. Thank you in advance for your support. -Mike Wallerich, '09, St. Norbert College Baseball Head Coach, (920) 403-3921
